Alex and Isaac had me come all the way to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland for their beautiful wedding a few months go. I think one of my favorite thing is that their venue, Black Walnut Point Inn, was owned by family members, and was far from the typical "weddingy" venues that I've shot in. It had a lot of character, and history that you could feel as you made your way through the interior filled with objects that had been there long before we ever had. The wind from Chesapeake bay whipped over the island, providing lots of great movement in Alex's beautiful Sarah Seven dress (via Lovely Bride DC) as we chased the setting sun. Magic light sifted through the trees as the sun slowly sank over the ocean..
But honestly, these two were just so great. From giving me some great local recommendations to tour around DC and Baltimore with, to confirming the desire I had to go to Assateague Island to see the wild ponies. Thankfully, I listened to them and made a childhood dream come true--any other fans of Misty of Chinconteague out there?
also, any couple who includes the words from a Neruda poem in their vows are pretty great in my book..
"...I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul..."
let's explore with these two lovers on the shore of Chesapeake bay.
thanks to Rebecca Wilcher for helping me shoot this day.
