Visiting my home state of Georgia is always something I look forward to as I really miss my family and I love seeing them. What makes it even better is when old friends contact me do photos for them during my trip, and exactly that happened when Austin's mom contacted me to do his portraits. He is one of my best friend's little brothers, and it was a honestly a little hard to believe how much he had changed since I last saw him. I loved taking photos of his old Chevrolet; some of his favorite things are classic cars and trucks, so it's only fitting that he would have one of his own. While I thought it looked pretty awesome just the way it was, he plans on fixing it up even more and I can't wait to see what he does with it. Austin and his mom both wanted something in the country, which allowed us to we venture deep into the heart of the Georgia countryside, with oak trees and Spanish moss as the backdrop, and of course, those good ole country roads to carry us there. I had so much fun exploring this little patch of woods off this tree-lined country road. It instantly gave me over to feelings of nostalgia as I remembered riding around similar areas and woods looking for deer with my dad when I was younger, something that I took for granted then. Now, those are the very memories I cling to.
Some things I miss about the south: that sweet tea, fried okra, Southern slang such as, well just take a look at this board and you'll get a little taste: funny Southern sayings, oak trees, warm Florida beaches, moonlight beneath the pines, the way everyone says hello, the love of country and America...the list just goes on, friends. You can't quite describe it-you'll have to experience it for yourself.
