ana + erick // chicago, illinois wedding

Last summer, I traveled to Chicago to document the story Ana + Erick's and their beautiful wedding day. At the time of their wedding, they had been long distance with Ana living in Montreal, and Erick living in Chicago. After three years of long distance, Ana finally was able to call Chicago home after their wedding.

Ana and her bridesmaids wore greenery filled flower crowns and carried loosely-arranged bouquets by Foraged Floral. Their style was simple, understated elegance achieved with flowing gowns that felt refined yet effortless. I also loved that Ana had her maids in white; it was the right amount of different without being too much.

While Ana's style and taste is lovely, I think the melding of cultures in this wedding was particularly beautiful. Ana is Russian, and Erick Romanian, so many of their family members traveled from other parts of the world to celebrate with them. The entire day was filled with emotion and the love that was shared between them and their families was palpable. I absolutely love the vulnerability these two showed throughout the day with each other.

Here's to one of my favorite weddings from last year.

paul + teena // bellevue, washington wedding

Paul and Teena's wedding in Bellevue was one of my favorites last year. It was creative, heartfelt, fun and filled with love. And although it was filled with laughter, a much more serious and profound sentiment was the focus of the day. One moment in particular stopped me in my tracks; the love and commitment was etched into the moment that was unfolding before me, so compelling it was almost tangible. I saw them sharing a prayer before taking communion together, with the sound of their guests enveloping them in the melodic sounds of a beautiful hymnal. I took a deep breath and snapped away quietly, not wanting to disturb the profound moment before me.

I was so glad to be able to be part of this. Not only was their ceremony incredibly meaningful, these two are super creative and had a lot of unique, folksy decor that they put together themselves. If you scroll through, keep an eye out for hand-drawn cards from the bride and groom to each other. Every detail was well thought out and unique to the bride and groom. I admit, I was also a little obsessed with Teena's two piece dress from Sarah Seven. These two and their style was definitely on point.

anna + levi // alaska elopement inspiration

those of you who know me, know I spent a little over two years living in rural Alaska. this place will always have a hold on me; the northwest is beautiful but there is an unspoken freedom in Alaska that is unparalleled in any other place I have ever been. there is a quiet wildness, a gentle harshness.

more than anything, I wanted to capture that in this shoot...wild, yet calm, the looming glacier and the wind complemented by warm embraces and stolen glances between these two beautiful people who love each other with everything. thanks anna and levi for being perfect for this shoot, you guys have such a great connection and it is so apparent just being around you for that short time.

Alaska should be the next Iceland for destination elopements. if you are wanting a destination elopement, especially in Alaska, feel free to contact me. I'll be there next June and I'm always willing to go back.

dress: Rue De Seine "Sadi" from Seattle's The Dress Theory

florals: Grace Adams and myself

flag: The Wild Standard -- also perfect for home decor :)

arielle + dustin - an elopement on the oregon coast // portland wedding photographer // cannon beach elopement photographer //

In August, two people from Louisiana flew all the way to the Pacific Northwest to elope in the setting they had always dreamed of. They had never been there, but with adventurous hearts they set out to begin their story in a new place together.

It was a typical day on the Oregon coast at Cannon Beach, with rain slowly drenching us and the wind whipping our hair about. But these two...well, they aren't your typical couple. They had come here for an adventure, seeking something different and wild. The fact that the weather wasn't perfect only added to the sentiment of them setting out on an adventure together as a married couple. Together we ran through forests, across beaches, and all the while not caring one bit if our feet (or Arielle's dress) got muddy and that our clothes were soaked. Seriously, the best.

I am so in awe of love like this. Raw, honest, real.
